Our client is unique legislation backed organisation at the heart of the UK and international financial services. They pay out compensation to customers of failed banks, building societies and other financial services providers.


Applications are invited from recent graduates in one of the following areas; Economics, Mathematics, Business Studies, Finance, Quality Assurance, Risk Management and Insurance. Applications are also welcome from candidates who have recently completed an MBA or a Masters Degree in any of the above areas.


Successful candidates will be matched to the most appropriate role in light of their skills and experience. It is essential that applications have at least one years work experience and have achieved at least a 2:1 at undergraduate level or a Merit at Masters level.


All First Class degrees and candidates with financial services experience will be considered.


Your career as a trainee will be structured over a two year period, giving you a chance to gain as much experience as possible across a number of areas. You will be assigned a mentor within the organisation to help support you during your training, which may include support for relevant professional qualifications.


This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in a unique organisation. The activities that these teams perform include:

  • Processing claims for compensation and related enquiries from the customers of failed firms, e.g – banks / cresdit unions.
  • Providing query and referral support to our outsource partners who process claims and queries.
  • Managing the relationship and the service we receive from our outsource claims handling partners.
  • Quality assurance – Monitoring the work that we process.
  • Assessing solvency of a firm.
  • The administrative support associated with all operational functions.


Each team focuses on a range of difference financial services sector and product types including investments, deposits (banks, building societies and credit unions), home finance firms and insurance intermediaries.


The exact knowledge, skills and experience required will depend on the role but will include:


  • Good customer service skills
  • Food communication skills; oral, written
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Team working
  • Numeracy and excel skills
  • General knowledge of the financial services sector and an awareness of difference types of financial products
  • Work experience which could have been gained whilst at university of through a work placement
  • Some experience in team working


Selection will be by testing and interview.
