Our client is a global leader and innovator in the agricultural science sectors. They are an important division of a larger global science group. They are looking for a high calibre individual who can support the Farm Manager and Supervisors with their Field Trials work.

THE ROLE

The Farm Assistant will support the Farm Manager in achieving the Field Stations objectives and provide agronomic and mechanical resource for the Agronomists on the field stations. 

You will be:

  • Identifying training requirements and recording training activity to maintain the site workforce’s skills and knowledge
  • Promoting, auditing  and enforcing quality and loss control policy
  • Assisting in the trials programme by providing expertise in the operation of agricultural machinery and equipment
  • Providing support to the Agronomists such as: managing irrigation equipment; maintenance treatments; drilling and harvesting operations.

REQUIREMENTS

Ideally you will have achieved a 2.1 at degree level and have an interest in Agriculture and Farming (or you will have equivalent knowledge and ability).

You will be:

  • very comfortable with a hands-on agricultural and farming environment
  • comfortable working with farming and agricultural machinery and equipment
  • accurate and have a strong attention to detail
  • strong at planning and organising
  • a clear and confident communicator (both written and verbal)
  • a strong team player
  • adaptable to various projects and changing deadlines

It would be advantageous but not essential if you hold NPTC Certificates (1,2,3 & 6), Fork Lift Truck Certificates and an LGV Licence.
