Role Description
Calman Trust in Inverness, is a social enterprise where trading activities provide the context in which young people learn the skills for work by doing real work, is recruiting for a recent graduate for an Events role.
This project is aimed at a hospitality graduate to assist in the development of offsite events. As a rapidly growing organisation more and more markets are developing therefore we require someone with the practical and theoretical knowledge to develop and implement appropriate hospitality processes and procedures. Another important aspect to this role is that the successful applicant will develop a calendar of events, in which they see the opportunities for outside or ‘off-site’ catering. This will also lead to the development of structured training for young people in customer service roles associated with the delivery of this off-site programme.
The role will also involve:
Producing an operating manual as the basis for future training for staff attending outside catering events i.e. waiting staff etc
Identifying local and national opportunities in off-site and external catering.
Having undertaken extensive market research into various off-site catering opportunities i.e. farmers markets, game fairs etc, to use this information to produce an annual Events Calendar.
To identify new business opportunities through off-site catering
Help in the development of a marketing plan for off-site catering services which will be incorporated into the overall plan.
To undertake extensive market research into existing off-site catering opportunities and produce a document which will help inform ongoing business decisions.
Generate additional income, sufficient to maintain delivery of events catering thereafter.
As part of the TalentScotland Graduate Placement Programme in the Highlands and Islands, the candidate will benefit from support from a team within Highlands and Islands Enterprise and also access training focussed on employability and business skills, including a five day residential course.
This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
Hospitality degree
Marketing Experience
Hospitality Experience, with particular in food and beverage.
Coaching experience
Good customer rapport
Quality management
Understanding of health and safety obligations
Food safety qualification
Proven ability to undertake risk assessment in hospitality environment
Experience in a supervisory role
Experience of working in the catering industry
Experience of events management including licenced events
Good Time Management and planning skills
Smart Professional Appearance
Team Player
Ability to work on own initiative
Ability to prioritise
Commitment to the principles of equal opportunity in the workplace
Driving Licence
Desirable:
First aid qualification

As part of our trading arm (Calman Enterprise), the organisation operates commercial businesses to enable the youngsters a real life training and working experience.
