Why Enterprise Risk & Performance?

As an insurance business Chaucer faces many risks. Identifying, analysing, modelling and mitigating these risks is therefore crucial to the effective management of our business. We require intelligent and motivated individuals with the talent and desire to contribute to our specialist risk, exposure management and underwriting performance areas to ensure our continued success as a business.

The Role

During this programme, you will focus on 3 key areas; Risk, Exposure Management and Underwriting Performance Management.

Together, these will provide a broad understanding of how we identify, model, manage and report on underwriting risks and performance, including the impact of the regulatory landscape and the wider external environment.

Throughout the programme you will gain invaluable exposure to other areas of the company such as underwriting and catastrophe modelling with the aim of providing you with an in-depth understanding of how our business operates and the important role that effective modelling, risk mitigation and underwriting performance management plays in our business.

Development Opportunities

At Chaucer we understand the importance of learning therefore you will follow an in-depth development programme running throughout the scheme: 

  • Within your first week you will be provided with a structured induction programme to prepare you for your career at Chaucer.
  • The Learning and Development team will work with you to devise your own personal and professional development plan.
  • Throughout each placement you will receive continuous development through self-study, internal and external courses, technical briefings and structured on-the-job training.
  • You will be fully supported through your professional qualification.
  • You will receive regular performance reviews to help you track your progress and will be provided with a buddy and a mentor to support you through your programme.

Our Requirements

  • 2.1 degree in a Maths or numerate subject 
  • 3 or more good ‘A’ Levels (Maths is desirable)
  • GCSE Maths & English (minimum grade B)
  • Knowledge of statistics packages or programming is desirable
  • Full valid UK work permit
  • Able to start in October 2013
