Why Energy Underwriting?

Our Energy team is a recognised leader in the international energy market, providing insurance cover for a wide selection of energy industry entities from shipyards to oil-rigs, multinational oil companies to bio fuel plants and wind farms to refineries, many of which are ground-breaking in their design. As well as construction coverage we also offer business interruption and liability products, making this a very diverse and growing portfolio of business.

The Role

During this accelerated programme you will develop a solid knowledge of the principles of claims, building an understanding of how claims are managed from inception to settlement. You will also gain exposure to key areas of the business such as underwriting and will meet other claims practitioners, lawyers, underwriters and graduates helping you to create a network across the market. All of this will provide you with a clear understanding of how our business operates and will help you to see just how important our claims practitioners are.

Development Opportunities

At Chaucer we understand the importance of learning therefore you will follow an in-depth development programme running throughout the scheme:

  • Within your first week you will be provided with a structured induction programme to prepare you for your career at Chaucer.
  • The Learning and Development team will work with you to devise your own personal and professional development plan. 
  • Throughout each placement you will receive continuous development through self-study, internal and external courses, technical briefings and structured on-the-job training.
  • You will be fully supported through the CII Advanced Diploma professional qualification and will be expected to attain ACII status within 3 years. 
  • You will receive regular performance reviews to help you track your progress and will be provided with a buddy and a mentor to support you through your programme.

Our Requirements

  • 2.1 degree in Engineering, Economics, Business or other Academic subject
  • 3 or more ‘A’ Level s (Grades A-C)
  • GCSE Maths & English (minimum grade B) 
  • Full valid UK work permit 
  • Able to start in October 2013
