Electrical Software Engineer / Design Engineer

Tamworth, Staffordshire

They are a world leader in the manufacture and supply of automated machines and systems to all sectors of industry.

They are looking to recruit an Electrical / Software Design Engineer who will compliment and integrate into their existing team of Design and Software Engineers.

Key to this role is the development of the machine software and machine functions through to successful installation. Liasing with their clients and internal mechanical and project engineers, you will design the software interfaces for the machines and the software for running machines and systems. You must work closely with clients to ensure that the electrical build is to the required standard and that they perform to the required specification. You must make certain that the project adheres to the project plan and cost considerations and have the ability to organise, control and report on all project issues including costs, adherence to targets and quality issues.

Candidates for this role must have a methodical, logical approach to problem solving and should be conversant with Microsoft Project and other standard Microsoft software. You should be educated to a minimum of HNC level or equivalent in a related subject and they will accept applications from Graduates with previous experience of the role or work placement experience. A familiarity with major PLC systems, ASI, ProfiBus and LabTec would be an advantage along with an understanding of communications protocols such as RS232/485 etc. CAD experience is a distinct advantage, although training can be provided.

This is very much a hands on role requiring good technical ability, good communication skills at all levels and a drive to succeed. The role is predominantly works based with various off site visits to customers and suppliers.
