Electrical and Control Engineering Graduate (North West) Salary û ú20,000-ú22,500 plus benefits As one of the world's leading manufacturers and processors of flat glass, with manufacturing operations in 24 countries and sales in 130 countries, we offers a wide range of challenging opportunities for those seeking a career in an international manufacturing organisation. We are looking for a Electrical/Control Graduate to start September 2005 with a MEng 2:1 or above in Electrical/Control Engineering. The position will be based at our European Technology Centre in Lancashire, although, given the international spread of the Group's activities, work in this area will often require short-term assignments outside the UK of up to 8 weeks at a time. Engineers within the plants work closely with manufacturing staff and members of other functions to ensure that our plants operate day-by-day at world class standards of performance, achieving high levels of yield and throughput with minimum down time. It is possible to move between design or development engineering and plant engineering to provide greater breadth to career development although this initial appointment is in the central engineering function. The work is focused on major repairs or construction of new manufacturing plants worldwide and the Electrical and Control section is responsible for all aspects of Electrical and Control systems used on the plant. Extensive training is provided and individually planned to meet both career needs and Group requirements. The aim is to take graduates in the UK to Chartered status through a development programme, approved by the relevant institute, lasting up to five years. On joining us you will be assigned a professional mentor, who, along with your line manager, will agree with you the initial phase of your development. A series of assignments will allow you to gain a broad appreciation of engineering and you may also attend a practical engineering training programme if this is required. Once you are a Chartered Engineer, subsequent appointments will be offered which facilitate your development through increasing levels of personal and managerial responsibility. If you believe you have the skills and abilities we need and there is a match between our profile and your aspirations, we very much want to hear from you.

Location: North West England
