EXPIRY NOTICE: This job has now expired and will not be accepting any more applications.

A renowned, independent publisher of academic books and journals is looking to recruit two Editorial Assistants to work on journals published online. These positions will both be on 10 month short-term contracts. The Editorial Assistants will support the Editors in achieving the number of articles published in the journals through regular contact with authors and editors.

The roles involve mainly e-mail and telephone contact but can also require attendance at meetings in the UK and abroad. As the journals are published only online, the role will be entirely web-based but there is no need for any programming expertise as this is not part of the role. The Editorial Assistants will work on the subject areas of Geography/Philosophy or Religion/Linguistics.

Other tasks include: Ensuring articles are complete before going to production; organising and attending meetings; creating monthly progress reports and ensuring that the journal websites are up to date.

The ideal candidates will be graduates with at least six months of administrative experience and who are very comfortable using the internet. Publishing experience, or a knowledge of online publishing would be an advantage. Candidates should be organised, with excellent communication skills, and be able to maintain detailed records.

Location: South East England
