Our client is a world leader in comprehensive threat weapon systems and missile countermeasures solutions. They specialise in the design, manufacture and world wide distribution of a comprehensive range of RF (Radio Frequency) and IR (Infra Red) decoy cartridges for airborne, naval and land applications across the entire electromagnetic spectrum.
They now have an exciting opportunity for a Development Engineer to join the team based in Salisbury. This varied role will require you to undertake the development and transition into Production of new or modified products in response to customer requirements, and in accordance with company ISO 9001 accredited procedures and specifications defined by the customer’s contract.
You will use your highly developed report writing and project planning skills to prepare proposals for product development, including detailed Project Plans and the collation of data to technically report development activities. Your excellent time management skills will ensure you perform development activities to agreed timescales and costs. You will need excellent communication skills to ensure you can effectively liase with other company departments. Similarly, you will also need to be able to effectively represent the company and interact with external customers at an external level. You will also be require to conduct risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment and you may also be required to supervise Technicians/support staff when necessary.
In order to be considered for this role it is essential that you hold an Engineering Qualification at OND level (or equivalent). It is vital that you have practical Engineering machine-shop skills, along with knowledge and experience of Autocad 2000/Mechanical Desktop 6. You must also be proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Project and have experience of pyrotechnics and countermeasures. It would be advantageous to have an Engineering degree (or equivalent), previous project management experience, and previous experience within a high volume manufacturing environment and experience of MoD and Service systems, although these are not essential.
