Job Summary

Reaqua Systems is looking for a graduate for a Science/Engineering role based in Livingston. The 3-6 month project will involve developing and running a comprehensive test programme to explore the effects of various contaminants in greywater on alternative filtration components and propose design solutions to the effects identified.

Job Description

The reAqua product employs a combination of filtration and disinfectant techniques to stabilise incoming greywater from baths and showers prior to it being used to flush a toilet.

The candidate will be required to define and carry out a range of tests and experiments to investigate and understand the disinfecting, cleaning and interactive properties of the specific techniques used. These tests will need to be applied across a range of personal hygiene products e.g. solid soap, liquid soaps and shampoos/detergents.

Further investigations will be required to understand the interaction between these hygiene products, contaminants and reAquas’ bespoke disinfectant liquid and how they are affected by the surface energy of the filtration materials. These results will have a direct influence on the selection and proving of key components within the product.

Project Description

The candidate can expect to engage with sub-contract test laboratories, the Disinfectant manufacturer, filter suppliers, as well as having an involvement with the on-going product trials. The candidate will be exposed to all the development disciplines within the company and will be part of a dynamic and fast moving team activity.

The key tasks will include:

  • Identify all relevant combinations of materials and devise a test method and protocol for all
  • Set up and carry out experiments,
  • Analyse results and agree "next steps" with relevant colleagues
  • Report on findings with recommendations
  • Test recommendations and present conclusions

The objective of the project is to identify issues and make recommendations for solutions. Success will be measured by the quality of the experimental rigour and the robustness of the thinking behind the proposed solutions.

For the exceptional candidate there may be the opportunity of an extension to their employment with the possibility of a permanent role.
