Customer Development

Pot Noodle is one of the most popular snack brands, and in an average minute, around 300 will fly off the shelves in supermarkets, convenience stores, shops, and forecourts all around the UK. Now imagine what happens when there’s a new product out. We as a business have high expectations, and we’ve put huge amounts of research into making it appeal to the consumer. But without the right promotion or position, and without the right level of interest from our customers – the people who actually sell the products to everyday consumers – we’re not going to realise its potential. So how would you find the room in the snack market for this new Noodle? How would you persuade retailers to position it, to put up new displays, to take the risk of buying lots of stock of something new and unfamiliar?

What will you do?
Getting saucy snacks, popular detergents, and much-loved body lotions to the right shelves and the right customers is a complicated business, involving a number of different roles: In Account Management you work with a certain type of customer – anything from major supermarkets like Tesco to the smallest cornershop. This is all about relationship building, developing promotions, negotiating and understanding consumers.

In Category Management you take control of a portfolio of products – for example fabric cleaning – and develop a deep understanding of the products, consumers’ habits, the market place and the products’ competitors. You’ll then advise customers on which products to stock based on their local demographic, and work at getting the most out of your category.

In Business to Business you’ll join our Food Solutions business and sell a range of food products – such as our Hellmann’s, Knorr, and Colman’s brands – to all sorts of businesses. This means you’ll be nurturing a variety of customer relationships, from the Hilton Group or Greene King to the Ministry of Defence, maintaining our status as preferred supplier.

Who is it for?
The kind of people who thrive here get on well – and instantly – with others, can handle tough situations, and are highly motivated. Could it be you?
