Locogen has been operational for 3 years and our current team of 11 staff has a combined 40 years of renewable energy experience. The company's focus to date has been on the development of wind, hydro, solar and biomass technologies but we are constantly expanding our experience base and are actively involved in anaerobic digestion and tidal projects.

Work within the company is split between developing our own portfolio of renewable electricity generating assets, and providing consultancy support for various third parties (private companies, public sector and individuals). Our consultancy work includes the completion of feasibility surveys, planning works, resource assessments, and business plans for commercial scale renewable projects. Locogen are also very active in completing design and construction works associated with renewable technologies including procurement, clearing of conditions, construction and commissioning. The majority of Locogen's operations are currently within Scotland but there is an increasing level of work across the UK.

This growth has led to a need for increased community and marketing engagement.

Role Description

This is a great opportunity to experience a wide range of work with a team of planning consultants and engineers with expertise in the development and implementation of low carbon generating technologies and to help Scotland and the UK achieve its renewable potential. • once a suitable model has been developed, alongside senior staff, work alongside the project planning and development team as community liaison to maximise the benefit to both the relevant communities and Locogen's development goals. This would involve approaching multiple community groups and building strong working relationships.

Marketing Support: Provide ongoing marketing support

Locogen have established marketing materials and procedures but are constantly looking at new ways to increase awareness of the company and activities (e.g. through increased use of social media and the existing website). The successful candidate would be tasked with:

  • providing regular updates to the news and case studies sections of the company website
  • further development and management of Locogen’s use of social media
  • develop new ways to increase awareness of the company amongst landowners, farmers and the commercial sector
  • opportunities to attend trade shows and exhibitions with senior staff to promote Locogen’s activities.

Project support: Provide general project support to the development team through use

The core aim of this placement will be the delivery of the two main responsibilities stated above. There will however be an opportunity for the successful candidate to support the wider project development process for a range of renewable technologies.
