As a two year programme based from our Shrewsbury office, our Commercial Sales Managers Programme will take you through a breadth of valuable training alongside your day-to-day role in the business.
First and foremost you will receive extensive structured sales training via our Sales Winners Programme, whilst being fully supported to ensure we optimise your skills and enable you to build a successful career in a wonderfully rewarding profession.
As part of your development you will also be enrolled on to the highly acclaimed OPEN Programme; a fully rounded, professionally accredited graduate management development scheme designed to set you up for future success. You can find out more about the OPEN Programme on our website.
You will also undergo appropriate AGR module training as required.

Being primarily responsible for new business sales in line with sales strategy, you will be required to:

  • Identify new business opportunities through a proactive approach to lead generation and direct sales contact.
  • Effectively network around an organisation to establish other opportunities for the Discovery group.
  • Identify opportunities and promote the full range of services within Discovery Graduates portfolio.
  • Work with marketing to create opportunities through a targeted approach.
  • Deliver required targets for new business.
  • Become an expert in graduate recruitment and development and establish a status as a ‘trusted advisor’ for our clients.

Upon completing the 2 year programme you can expect to progress to Senior Sales Business Development Manager, or for those preferring progression through the Sales Management route you would be given appropriate training and the opportunity to begin to grow your own team.

This is a very exciting role for someone looking to help build the hugely important sales side of the business.

The ideal person for this position will (as essential):

  • Have a minimum of 12 months commercial experience (in sales or a proactive client facing role).
  • Have a strong desire to pursue a career in professional selling.
  • Be highly pursuant, driven and self-motivated, with a desire to succeed.
  • Be motivated by the achievement of targets.
  • Be inquisitive with the ability to act on initiative.
  • Be competitive and gregarious.
  • Be hard working and resilient.
  • Have excellent and demonstrable time management and organisational skills.
  • Be highly literate (written and spoken English) and numerate.
  • Have the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Have excellent communication, inter-personal skills and high standards of presentation.
  • Live in Shrewsbury or be willing to relocate.
  • Have a full driving licence.

Other desirable specifications:

  • Educated to degree level.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
