Job summary
Umicore Coating Services is looking for an enthusiastic graduate to join our team of experienced Coating Engineers during the installation of a new Coating Chamber. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter, with good communication skills and excellent problem solving skills. This is a 12 month placement with an opportunity to convert to a permanent role, based in Dundee.

Project Description
The first phase of the project is the installation of a new coating machine at Umicore. The next phase is the transfer of existing coating processes and the development of new coating processes for this machine.
Role Description
Assist in the preparation for the installation of a new coating machine
Assist in the installation of the new coating machine
Assist in the transfer of coating processes from existing equipment to the new machine
Design and Development of new coating processes
Troubleshooting and rectifying problems in the coating machine and processes
The Graduate will benefit from training in the fast moving field of Thin Film Coatings and have opportunities to work with other parts of the Umicore Group world wide.
Skills / Experience
Essential
· An interest in manufacturing technology
· A hands-on and structured approach to problem solving
· Excellent Communications Skills – both verbal and written
· Strong team working skills, especially in small teams
· Ability to work proactively and independently
· Excellent organisational skills, including ability to managing multiple projects simultaneously
Ideal
· Knowledge and/or experience of Optical Thin Film Coatings
Qualifications
Essential
· Degree in Physics, Applied Physics or a relevant Engineering Degree
