Bio Process Development Scientist (Biological Scientist)


Salary: £20,000 to £30,000 pa + benefits


Our client is a U.K. wide resource to stimulate and drive innovation within various industry sectors. Working with Global commercial partners it is committed to increasing novel technology adoption within the process sector.


They are currently seeking to recruit a person to take full time responsibility for preparing, equipping and safely operating in a laboratory for the development of and demonstration of Bioprocesses experience in biocatalysts and protein expression systems is essential.


The jobholder will also relate problem solving and developing processes from the company’s laboratory directly with clients and have the necessary skills and experience to:


· Carry out all activities to agreed SHE and quality standards, taking a clear position in order to identify and implement actions for improvement. Deputising for the Laboratory Group Leader in their absence.

· Carry out biochemical process development at the 1, 10, 70  litre scale of novel proteins and biocatalyst s for use in the fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

· Assist in the scheduling, operation and development of the laboratory based fermentation and associated equipment to optimise efficiency, maintain its technology advantages and maximise its value to their customers and associates, providing the resource to train internal, and when required, external personnel in its operation.


Our client are looking for a person who is a post doctoral graduate in a biological science discipline, with particular expertise in microbiology, protein production and enzymology, industrial experience will be preferred. Education to degree level in a biological science discipline is acceptable but must be reinforced with several years industrial experience in biocatalyst and protein production.
