The successful candidate will take up a role specifically intended to nurture future country controllers. Kuehne + Nagel has, for a number of years, developed certain finance staff by way of an informal but well recognised program known as the HIPO (High Potential) scheme. These employees have typically been between 25 to 35 years old on joining, have a university degree in finance or accounting and are willing to travel. The only prerequisite on language is English although additional languages may be useful. The training period in the UK will be a minimum of two years and upon successful completion of this, the candidate will be available to move wherever he or she is required. Training will involve full instruction on Kuehne + NagelÆs accounting systems, procedures and guidelines as well as appropriate familiarisation with the freight forwarding and logistics business. Duties and responsibilities will include the following: ò During the initial training period, the candidate will carry out whatever projects are deemed relevant but this will include assisting internal auditor and covering absence of local branch finance officers. ò Supporting enforcement of Kuehne + NagelÆs financial policies and procedures with special regard to cost control. ò Analysing management reports and explaining variances from budget and prior year. ò Assisting in certain administrative procedures and central purchasing initiatives. Candidate Profile ò Good academic record - graduate with relevant qualifications. ò Strong communication skills and tenacious personality. ò Well organised and disciplined mindset. ò Professional demeanour. ò PC Literate û expected to be competent on Excel. ò Must be ambitious. ò Understanding of basic bookkeeping.
