Aqua Culture Development Scientist (Microbiological Scientist)
Salary: £20,000 to £30,000 pa + benefits
Our client is a U.K. wide resource to stimulate and drive innovation within various industry sectors. Working with Global commercial partners it is committed to increasing novel technology adoption within the process sector.
They are currently seeking to recruit a person to take full time responsibility for preparing, equipping and safely operating in a laboratory for the development and demonstration of bioprocesses involving the use of algae and other aquatic based organisms.
The jobholder will also relate problem solving and developing processes from the company’s laboratory directly with clients and have the necessary skills and experience to:
· Carry out all activities to agreed SHE and quality standards, taking a clear position in order to identify and implement actions for improvement. Deputising for the Laboratory Group Leader in their absence.
· Carry out process development at the 1, 10, 70 litre scale of organisms for the proteins, enzymes and other products for use in the fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
· Assist in the scheduling, operation and development of the laboratory based culturing and associated equipment to optimise efficiency, maintain its technology advantages and maximise its value to their customers and associates, providing the resource to train internal, and when required, external personnel in its operation.
Our client are looking for a person who is a post doctoral graduate in a microbiological science discipline, with particular expertise in algae and marine organism culture and recovery of products from biomass, industrial experience will be preferred. Education to degree level in a biological science discipline is acceptable but must be reinforced with several years industrial experience.
