A Work Experience placement abroad is a unique way to observe experts in your field and learn how they work in different countries. The experience you gain will be invaluable to you in the future and very different to what you're used to. We consult with you regarding your specific requirements to ensure you gain the maximum benefit and experience from the placement.

We have a variety of exciting media internships available in Argentina, Australia, Ghana, New Zealand or South Africa.

Radio: You'll gain excellent Radio Journalism experience on a radio programme that airs daily between 09:00 to 11:00. The programme takes a political focus, with an analysis of financial market trends, political current affairs in Argentina, Economics (Local and International) and a review of everyday events and news. The show often features telephone interviews with guest speakers.

Radio: Gain worthwhile experience on a community radio station that broadcasts primarily to the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia, with a focus on the Cities of Wanneroo and Joondalup. Most of your time is likely to be spent working alongside one of the main staff members or long-term volunteers, helping to put together a programme to go on air. This involves reviewing and selecting, as well as helping with the research, putting the programme together and interviewing people. It may even extend to actually broadcasting the material.

Television: Experience the best of Perth's community action whilst gaining vital work experience at a local TV station. This project offers you the chance to volunteer with a not-for-profit community television service which provides individuals and community, cultural or educational organisations access to airtime, training and equipment to produce programs for broadcast.

Radio: A unique opportunity to be part of an exciting radio team in the heart of Accra. You'll observe experts in the field of Radio/Journalism and learn how they work in Ghana. The station works on news and entertainment. If you have past radio experience, then it is likely you will have plenty of freedom to express ideas and create your own work assignments. You could find yourself involved with preparing news stories and researching and editing features.

Television Production: Work alongside a TV production team, from the concept idea for a piece, to the production of the model. The TV Production Studio where you'll work is located in Accra and is primarily a facilities house that undertakes commissions for television programmes, documentaries, commercials, music, corporate and training videos, events coverage, graphics, as well as 2D and 3D animation.

Web Design:  Work alongside professional web designers in the largest web design and development firm in Ghana. Observe experts and learn how they work in an African culture and environment. This company specializes in interactive media development, applications development and E-business development. Focused on both multimedia and server side technology, this company has created a number of award winning sites and helped advance the state of Web Africa, operating from the early days when most of the usual suspects in Web Africa were still cutting their teeth.

Graphic Design: You'll work as a Graphic Designer at a TV station in Auckland. The station has a program schedule comprised of short, punchy health-related documentaries and quick tips, magazine-style entertainment segments - everything from fashion to DIY - and easy-listening music videos. The station was the first station to ban junk food and soft drink advertising to make people more aware about what they eat and to promote a healthy lifestyle.

The station is a free channel that is shown in medical waiting areas, which aims to engage, educate and entertain patients before they see a medical professional. The station broadcasts via the internet to over 200 medical centres across the country and they use the latest ground breaking technology video on demand to broadcast their programs.

Graphic Design: Learn about the business of Graphic Design in a small friendly South African firm based right on the water's edge of the Lagoon in one of South Africa’s most beautiful and popular tourist locations. You'll learn the basics of the business of graphics design. You'll work alongside the staff in your area of expertise. If you have more than one skill/interest area then you will most likely get the chance to be involved in several areas of the company. Whatever your area of expertise, you'll have a hands-on role, this may be as part of a group or you may be given some tasks to work on by yourself.

  • An exciting, never-to-be-forgotten adventure into your chosen county and its diverse culture
  • The enormous satisfaction of helping a disadvantaged community and knowing that you made a difference to them.
  • New skills, more confidence, a greater understanding of a different culture, invaluable personal and professional development.
  • An entry on your CV or résumé that will put you head and shoulders above most others in the job market
  • And best of all ... an unforgettable experience!
