ThoughtWorks, Probably a name youÆre not familiar with. We've been around in the US for more than ten years now, and here in the UK for just over three. Today, we're a multinational with some 600 people throughout the US, Canada, UK, Australia, India and China. Our customers are mostly from the top global 1000 companies and include leading names in financial services, retail and energy.
Who are we?
Our business is growing rapidly, largely through word of mouth recommendation, with revenues now approaching m. We tackle complex, mission-critical applications like many other software companies. But that's where the similarity ends. We relish the kind of software challenges other so-called specialists dread. Ridiculously tight deadlines, disparate technologies, ill-defined requirements - all the things that are supposed to keep us awake at night are the reason we leap out of bed in the morning. And no, it's not that weÆre simply a bunch of technical masochists. We just approach things differently.
So as you can imagine, from a company that prides itself on challenging the conventional, our graduate scheme is a bit different too. You have two choices when you want to join us; straight away (July/August 2005) or you might choose to defer your entry till February 2006. We're looking for potential developers, business analysts and testers looking to build a career in technology consultancy.
Training and Development
We're going to fly our successful applicants to our office in Bangalore for up to 4 months for a Boot Camp in Agile, object oriented analysis & design and programming. We'll work with you to prepare you for the delivery role in our organisation that is right for you, get you started on building your global network while also giving you the chance to see some of our distributed projects first hand. And after that it's onto a project to put what youÆve learned into action.
What we look for
You need a 2.1 in a scientific/numerate/IT related degree subject or a 2.1 in any subject followed by an MSc in an IT related discipline. And 26 points at A-level.
We understand that our approach will come across as a bit unusual, but then, we're looking for people who have a track record of doing things differently. We're looking for exceptional graduates who can prove to us they have the drive, passion and hard-work ethic that's required for a career in technology consultancy. You can prove this to us in a number of ways; maybe you took on positions of responsibility at university, maybe you've had some relevant work experience, maybe you've done some really cool charity work, maybe you've worked out how trekking around the Andes on a goat could make you the perfect employee. WeÆre open-minded and prepared to be impressed. WeÆre also happy to look at people who graduated in 2004 provided you have no more that 12 months commercial post-graduate experience in technology.
What we offer
As well as full training we also offer an excellent starting salary and clear career progression.
