Thames Water provides an essential service to more than 13 million customers, making us the largest water utility in the UK.

 

We're embarking on some of the largest, most radical, and important engineering projects in our history: the London Tideway Tunnels, the London Ring Main, Beckton Desalination Plant, investing an unparalleled £1billion every year for the next 10 years in our network.

Who are we?

We are the UK's largest water and wastewater services company. Every day, we supply 2,600 million litres of tap water to 8.5 million customers across London and the Thames Valley. We also remove and treat 2,800 million litres of sewage for an area covering 13.6 million customers.

Since new ownership in 2006, we have performed better than ever, meeting regulatory targets and making an annual investment of nearly £1billion (2007/08) - the biggest ever investment of any UK water company.

Career Opportunities

12 – Engineers -18 months programme, you will need a minimum 2:1 in science or engineering (evidence required at assessment centre) You will obtain On-the-job training, structured training course for the Diploma in Water Engineering Level 3, shadowing site personnel, knowledge bursts, structured foundation leadership programme. Qualification obtained will be a Diploma in Water Engineering Level 3.

2 – Finance - 36 months you will need a minimum 2:1 in any degree with high numerical capability(evidence required at assessment centre) You will complete a 2-3 rotational placements throughout the finance department and a  structured foundation leadership programme. You will obtain a CIMA or ACCA qualification.

4 - Strategy and Regulation / Asset Management Graduate Programme - 18 months - you will need a minimum 2:1 (evidence required at assessment centre) We would consider graduates in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil), Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Environment), Business Studies, and Economics. Graduate and post graduate degrees are both welcome. The business does not want Engineers for at least 2 out of the 4.  Their requirement is anything but specifically numerate degrees would be desired (bus studies, stats, economist etc).  They would also be happy with someone looking at environmental degrees. A combined programme between S&R and Asset Management. This will ensure a breadth of experience we can offer a graduate during the development programme that will cover all areas of the business such as business strategy, regulatory management, investment planning, engineering design, project management, performance management, contract management, etc, across both water and waste water business. This will offer potential candidates with a very attractive development programme, and a structured foundation leadership programme in the largest water company operating in one of the exciting industry sectors in UK. You will have the potential to work towards chartered status, including Mechanical Engineering qualification.

What we look for

We are looking for Graduates with a 2:1 or above in an Engineering, Science, Mathematical, Business or Economics based degree.
