Chances are you won't have heard of us but we'll be amazed if you've never enjoyed any of our products. That's because we are one of the UK's leading premium chilled food manufacturing companies (that's quite a mouthful).
We also create products for Tesco, Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, The Co-operative Group, ASDA and the leading forecourt names, convenience stores and independent shops via the Ginsters Van Sales Team. We produce over 400 different premium chilled food product lines everyday at our sites in Leicestershire and Cornwall. As a proud privately owned family business, each of our 12 divisions is managed independently. All offer great opportunities for Graduates and Industrial Placements.
We are also proud of our flagship brands of Ginsters of Cornwall and Dickinson & Morris, the only remaining manufacturer of the famous Melton Mowbray Pork Pie left in the town itself.
Who are we?
Samworth Brothers are one of the largest food manufacturing and distribution companies in the UK, employing over 6,500 people. We were established as a family run business over a century ago and despite our phenomenal growth we maintain our family values today. We recognise that success depends upon constant respect for people, quality and profit, and consider our most important asset to be our people.
We are committed to growing our own talent within the business and have run a successful industrial placement scheme for several years.
Our industrial placement scheme is split into two six months placements to give you excellent exposure to the business and also give you the opportunity to do a real job and work on real projects.
The key focus will be around delivering in our production and technical functions, but may include commercial projects as well liaising with our customers and suppliers.
What we look for
Technical – Food or Science Based Degree
Production – Any degree background considered, particularly Business and Engineering backgrounds
What we offer
We offer undergraduates like you the opportunity to gain two 6 month placements in two different roles in two different businesses over 12 months, gaining you double the experience!
Successful completion of your Industrial Placement can also lead to a place on the Graduate Scheme before you go back to University. There's not much to be gained from watching someone all day, so you'll have two 6-month placements in real roles. This is a great way to gain valuable experience because you'll have genuine responsibilities and accountability. And with the full support of your Line Manager, Personnel Manager, Mentor and the Graduate Co-ordinator, you can be confident your contributions will make a positive impact on our business. Other people on Industrial Placements have impressed us by completing projects such as the redesign of a production floor, helping to develop and launch a new range of sandwiches, and saving us over £100,000 a year by looking at our production efficiencies. We hope you'll aim just as high.
