We operate learning centres for 6-14 year olds, helping children of all abilities to boost their core skills in Maths and English, gain confidence and enjoy learning.

We use an adaptive computer based curriculum that caters for each child's individual strengths and weaknesses, while also mapping onto the national curriculum. We tutor in low ratios (maximum 1:6), ensuring that each child receives individual support and attention.

Explore Learning operates a monthly membership basis: children become members of Explore and can attend once or twice a week for sessions of up to an hour and a quarter.

Who are we?

Explore Learning is a completely new concept in education and there is nothing like it in the UK.

We set up our first centre inside Sainsbury's in Chelmsford in October 2001. It was such a huge success and has allowed us to open a further 7 centres across the UK (Beaconsfield, Bristol, Reading, Peterborough, Hampton and Edinburgh), currently benefiting over 1-500 children.

We are due to launch another centre in Camberley in November before proceeding to a full scale national roll-out in 2005.

We are extremely ambitious and strive to see an Explore Learning centre in every town.

Career Opportunities

We recruit exceptional graduates to work as Assistant Directors to help run and existing Explore centre or to help launch a new centre.

This is a unique career opportunity where business and marketing skills are just as important as working with kids.

What we look for

We require exceptional graduates from leading universities, who are passionate about education and enthused by the idea of running a business.

Graduates need to have at least 22 UCAS points and a 2:1 in any subject.

Claire Joules
Assistant Director

Claire graduated from Nottingham University in 2002 with a degree in Biological Science. After graduating she spent a year teaching English in a Junior High School in Japan.

Claire joined Explore Learning in January 2004 as an Assistant Director; she was based in Beaconsfield but also worked in the Bristol and Chelmsford centres. This provided her with experience working in centres at different stages of development, which was invaluable before she became part of the team opening a new centre in Hampton in May.

Claire Joules:
"When I returned from Japan I wanted to find a career which would interest and challenge me. Reading the advert for Assistant Director at Explore sounded like my perfect job! There is great diversity in the day to day work - you are responsible for the smooth running of a centre, which involves everything from managing a team of Assistant Tutors to actually tutoring the children yourself. Carey Ann Evans

Carey Ann graduated from Royal Holloway University, London with a 2:1 in History, Economics and Politics in 2001. She had spent several university vacations working on childrenÆs summer camps in Canada and had also been very active in Student Radio, heading up the News Team. Carey Ann joined Explore in 2001; after a period working as Assistant Director in Chelmsford, she launched Explore Learning Beaconsfield in July 2002. Beaconsfield now has over 250 members.
