I have worked for Calor for many years. When I first graduated I started working within the food industry for a large FMCG business however, an opportunity presented itself with Calor Gas and I snapped it up.
Within Calor I have progressed through a number of roles which has given me an in depth knowledge of the company including working within the Calor Retail Centres. This is a very exciting role because you really get to see how a business works. You are given responsibility from the word go. The role consists of contact with distributors, selling, negotiating prices with suppliers, developing relationships and marketing you centre. You are also involved in the daily running of the centre and are responsible for cost control, safety on the site and stock control. In the role you will experience a massive learning curve.
I am now the Area Manager for London and the South East and the Retail Centre managers report into me. Within Calor Gar there is room for progression but you have to prove yourself. You have to be hard working and be prepared to put the hours in. The main thing we look for from our graduates is ambition, a will to win, tenacity and motivation. You must be results driven and competitive.
