Saxoncourt places teachers most months of the year. From the initial application through to when you actually arrive over there we do everything we can to make the process smooth and simple.
Jennifer taught English in Taiwan and recently finished her contract.
Why did I go to Taiwan?
I decided to go to Asia to teach. I knew very little about the culture, and just had an image of the east filled with fireworks and lanterns. Also a lot my friends had travelled here. I decided to go somewhere off the well beaten gap year path and ended up in Taiwan.
For a small island I was pretty surprised about how much there actually is to do there. Besides the temples, night markets and modern facilities, there are loads of hiking trails, and I even learnt to surf.
How did my recruitment agency help me?
The process of getting there was fairly simple; interviewing with my recruitment consultant, signing my contract, and a plane ticket were all it took to get started. The real challenge and excitement started when I arrived, wide eyed and overwhelmed by my new environment.
How was the teaching?
It took some adapting to teach young learners and the first weeks were tough. Yet the support from the other teachers kept me going. Before long I could see progress, and I enjoyed hearing that mirrored in the enthusiastic feedback from my British-accented students.
What am I doing now?
I’m looking to find another teaching position – in terms of location, I’m flexible, but I want to find another untravelled country to explore.
