Manuel Abuin - Graduate Engineering Trainee

Company Name: Hayward Tyler

Location: Luton

University: ICAI Madrid

Degree: Industrial Engineering (Mechanical Specialisation)

Graduated: 2007

I applied to Hayward Tyler as it is a leader in pumping solutions and I wanted to increase my skills to become the Head of Hydraulics in the business.

As my role has progressed I have been given a lot more responsibility and deal with many more people.   At the moment I am working on the new program for the test base, designing a hot test loop, checking test results and trying to improve the hydraulic process.

My key responsibilities are ensuring that the hydraulic process is completed correctly; ensuring that all the hydraulic tests being carried out to the units are done correctly according to the customer requirements; helping the sales team with new enquiries and generally helping with any hydraulic issues.

Over the next 12- 18 months I will be finishing the pump performance programme for the test base and designing a new impeller as well as continuing to improve my technical and management skills.

The best thing about working for Hayward Tyler is that I am able to deal with different kinds of people and my problem solving skills are put to the test every day. I always feel challenged and fully supported in my learning process.
