Overview
With over 1000 stores and 237,000 employees, we're the country's largest private sector employer, and experiencing rapid international expansion, particularly in Central Europe and the Far East.
We're committed to being as successful in non-food as we are in food. Tesco.com is the world's most successful on-line retailer with innovations including a DVD rental service by post and a phone ordering service for flowers. We retail products such as clothing, homeware, CDs and electrical goods, while Tesco Finance offers loans, mortgages, bank accounts and credit cards.
Who are we?
Wherever Tesco operates, we want to give every customer the very best. This simple philosophy has been key to us becoming the leading UK retailer.
We also feel the same way about the people who work with us - at every level, from warehouse staff or general assistants at the start of their careers, through to our most senior managers. We believe everyone should benefit from the best support and training we can provide, and aim to develop each to the best of their abilities.
Our commitment to people has led to an emphasis on training and development - subjects we take very seriously. Naturally, we provide lots of on and off the job coaching, but we also have a superb, specially designed learning programme.
With development comes opportunity. And with a business as big and varied as this, we're able to provide exceptional people with exceptional opportunities. The range of roles we offer isn't just in retail either; we need people with skills in areas from HR to Finance, IT to Marketing, and Logistics to Site & Strategic Research.
Our teams work together, not just across functional boundaries, but international ones. New horizons beckon, and our constant and rapid expansion means we're always embarking on new venturesà and adventures.
The section about Tesco Values will tell you more about our long-term commitment to promoting an environment where people can achieve their best.

Our recent graduates have been involved in anything from satisfying 50,000 customers every week to saving millions in their first few months, to exploring the Far East for the best new products, to developing media strategies. And that's just for starters.
So if you're ready for exceptional opportunities, who knows where you'll end up? We're expanding all over the world, going from strength to strength. And we want to take you with us.
