Is university the right option?

According to a survey of 16,000 final year students completed by High Fliers Research, one in six students would have reconsidered going to university if they had known how difficult it would be to secure a job once they graduated.

Do you think that this government should continue to aim for 50% of people to go to university or should they be encouraging people to follow different routes which may enable them to find employment more easily?

Does the problem lie with universities giving students unrealistic expectations of their employment prospects after graduating?

University can be a great experience for some people and can lead to a great career but it is not the right option for everyone and should not be considered as such by schools and parents.

School and college leavers should be given all the options available to them and be advised on what type of career could be suitable for their skills rather than being pushed into a university degree with no idea of what they will do once they graduate.
